Cheerful Heart helps out cancer patients

| June 22, 2023 12:00 AM

Cheerful Heart has been helping cancer patients in Lake County since 2002, and provides non-medical services at no cost to those who are currently in treatment. Services include transportation to treatment or medical appointments locally and in Missoula and Kalispell, running errands, preparing meals, walking dogs, and other tasks as requested.

The organization also provides volunteers who serve soup on Tuesdays at St. Joseph Medical Center’s Oncology Clinic in Polson. St. Luke Hospital also schedules appointments at its oncology infusion center in Ronan throughout the week. Both clinics carry inventories of head coverings, Knitted Knockers (breast prosthesis) and ComfyChemo shirts, which are available for no charge to patients.

Cheerful Heart’s Cheerful Touch program provides massages and skin, nail and hair care, provided by local cosmetologists and massage therapists. Patients should consult with their doctors before using these services.

For more information or to schedule a visit or appointment, call 883-3070, check out the Cheerful Heart website at www.cheerfulheart.org or email cheerfulheart46@gmail.com.

The Cheerful Heart Support Group is currently on hiatus while it reorganizes.
