Mission Valley athletes stand out at All-Star Game
Mission Valley players stood out in the 39th Annual Bob Cleverly 8-Man All-Star Game, held earlier this month at Bob Green Field in Butte as Team Blue defeated Team Red 56-40.
Mission’s Bryce Umphrey launched a 70-yard punt return for the early 6-0 advantage in the game for Team Blue.
The Red Team answered back and gained a 14-6 advantage. Mission’s Canyon Sargent cut into the lead with a goal-line run. Charlo’s Tucker Love then recovered a fumble on the following kickoff, and the Blue Team scored again for the 18-14 lead.
Umphrey was named the Blue Team MVP for offense, and Canyon Sargent was named the Blue Team MVP for defense.
Mission’s Carmine Adams, Chance Bockman, Kellen McClure and Kenny Ness played in the game, as did Charlo’s Keaton Piedalue.
Former Mission head coach Carson Oakland, now head coach for the Polson Pirates, led the Blue Team to victory.
