All-Star games highlight hoop talent

The Mission Mountain All-Star Game, held March 14 in the Ronan Event Center, showcased the talents of many of the best basketball players in the region. Plenty of good exhibition basketball was played, and fans will be eager for next year’s game in 2024.
Team A wins girls’ contest
Team A, wearing the home whites, narrowly defeated Team B 70-72, behind 15 points by Bigfork’s Madison Chappius. Team A led 41-31 at halftime, but Team B mounted a valiant comeback.
Bigfork’s Braeden Gunlock added 13 points to Team A’s efforts, while Charlo’s Hayleigh Smith scored 11 points and Polson’s Grace Simonich notched nine.
Team B was led by Bigfork’s Patten Gunlock with 15 points, while fellow Lady Valkyries Scout Nadeau scored 13 points, and Ava Davis had 11 points. Polson’s Mila Hawk and Ronan’s Leina Ulutoa had seven points apiece.

Team A wins high-scoring boys’ contest
Ronan’s Marlo Tonasket and Charlo’s Keaton Piedalue each combined to score 17 points to help lift Team A past Team B, 94-81. Team A overcame a two-point deficit to pick up the victory.
Mission’s Kenny Ness poured in 12 points, as did Ronan’s Kolby Finley in the victory; Arlee’s Dallas Scwab added 10 points.
Team B was led by Two Eagle’s Ben Old Person-Harlow’s game-high 21 points. Charlo’s Stetson Reum notched 14 points. Two Eagle’s Cai Burke had 8 points, as did Ronan’s Ted Coffman III.
