Suspect arrested in St. Ignatius burglaries
St. Ignatius Police Chief Jason Acheson said a suspect has been charged with three burglaries that occurred recently within the city limits.
The suspect, Quianna Haynes, 22, lives in the area. Haynes was arrested on different charges and outstanding felony warrants, and was incarcerated in the Lake County Jail. Acheson was able to question Haynes about the burglaries while she was in custody.
Based on Acheson’s investigation, Haynes was charged with burglarizing houses and businesses during a 72-hour period beginning March 12. Acheson used a Facebook post of a person of interest in the burglaries as an investigative tool, and he urged the public to check security and keyhole cameras on their properties for additional information since the case is still under investigation.
Although the rash of burglaries has calmed down, “be vigilant,” Acheson said. “Lock your door and your vehicles and keep valuables secured.”
If local residents see something that doesn’t look right or notice what appears to be a crime in progress, Acheson advises them to call the Lake County Dispatch Center at 406-883-7301, ext. 1, since dispatchers can reach the St. Ignatius Police Department quickly.
