University athletes speak at Fields of Faith

Polson’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) group hosted its fifth Fields of Faith at the Polson High School Stadium on April 26.

“It was a huge success,” said Mark Rochin, Polson Middle School FCA Huddle coach.

A student-led, non-denominational event, Fields of Faith utilizes an athletic field as a neutral rally point where a community can come together.

The Polson Mission Church FCA Club attended. Other schools invited were Glacier High School, Flathead High School, Bigfork High School, Columbia Falls High School, Whitefish High School, and Sentinel High School, along with many church youth groups from Kalispell to Missoula.

University athletes presented inspirational messages. Speakers were A.J. Crooks, soccer goalie and graduate of the University of Alabama; Laolu Oke, 6’8” forward and junior at the University of Montana; Sierra Dennison, 6’1” mid blocker, freshman at the University of Montana; Kris Brown, 6’5” quarterback, junior from the University of Montana; and Katie Klass Eriksson, soccer forward, graduate of Northern Illinois University and former professional soccer player.

Master of ceremonies was Grady Bennett, varsity football coach at Glacier High School in Kalispell, an FCA Huddle coach and former University of Montana quarterback. Adding to the inspirational vibe of the event was Ben Weagraff, former contestant on The Voice, who sang with the Worship Band, composed of Polson middle and high school kids.

To feed all the attendees, Levi Read and DJ Meat Processing donated and cooked burgers and supplied chips and sodas.
