Polson remains conference powerhouse

Polson continued to be the power of the Northwestern A Conference in tennis as evidenced by last week’s matches.

On Saturday at Whitefish, the Polson girls defeated Libby 5-2 and Whitefish 6-1 to finish their regular season 18-1. The boys defeated Libby 4-3 while falling to Whitefish 4-3 to garner an 18-1 record heading into the weekend.

The Polson girls swept Whitefish 7-0, with No. 1 Polson tennis player Clara Todd defeating Alivia Lusko 6-0, 6-1. Summer Newman won her No. 2 singles matchup, and the Lady Pirates picked a pair of singles forfeits.

In doubles action, No. 1 Polson team Katie Smith and Lucy Violett defeated Whitefish’s Camry/Kelch 7-5, 7-5. The No. 2 doubles team of Tia Mercer and Julia Barnard downed Camy/Kelch and Gretel/Vine 4-6, 6-2, 6-2. Karli Owens and Piper Hoxie also notched a win in their No. 3 singles matchup.

The Polson boys fell 4-3 to Whitefish. Polson No. 1 singles player Torrin Ellis defeated Whitefish’s Buren 6-0, 6-4. Ruger Ellis also picked up a win for the Pirates in a No. 3 singles contest. Polson lost the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matchups, but Otto Lund and Noah Tropher defeated Walt Siegmund, and Logan Harris defeated Whitefish’s Walt Siregmun and Logan Hyland 6-0, 6-1.

Against Libby, Polson girls downed the Lady Loggers 6-1, as No. 1 singles Clara Todd defeated Elaina Covington 6-0, 6-0. Piper Hoxie won her No. 2 singles matchup for the Lady Pirates, while Summer Newman won her No. 3 singles matchup.

In doubles action, Polson's No. 1 doubles squad of Lucy Violett and Katie Smith defeated Libby’s Ellie Andreesen and Macy Halverson 6-0, 6-1. Karli Owens and Lauren Collinge also won their No. 3 doubles matchup.

The Polson boys downed Libby 4-3 with a No. 1 singles win by Torrin Ellis over Ryan Beagle 6-3, 1-6, 6-2. Taegen Gage also won the No. 3 singles matchup for Polson. In doubles action, the No. 1 pairing of Owen McElwee and Tate Barentsen defeated Libby’s Alderic Martineau and Trevor Collins 6-1, 6-2. Otto Lund and Noah Trosper also picked up the win at No. 2 doubles for the Pirates.
