Charlo makes strong showing at Western C
Charlo had a strong showing at the Western C Track and Field Championships on Friday and Saturday in Missoula, with the Charlo boys claiming third and the girls placing fifth.
For the boys, Keaton Piedalue placed second for Charlo in the 100-meter run (11.83) and second in the 200-meter run (23.55). Piedalue also placed fifth in the 400-meter run (52.91), while Hayden Hollow was eighth (54.36).
Hollow was fourth in the 800-meter run (2:02.48), which was a personal best, while Hayden Smith was seventh in the event (2:07.55), also a personal best. Smith took third in the 1,600-meter run (4:49.46), posting the best time of his high school career, and second in the 3,200-meter run (10:37.60) for a season-best.
Charlo was third in the 4x400 relay race (3:40.58) thanks to the running of Hollow, Tucker Love, Tayre Brown and Piedalue.
Jacob Tomlin was fourth in the javelin throw (143-07) with a personal best.
Charlo freshman Leah Cahoon placed first in the high jump on the girls' side with a personal best of 4-10.
Aida Cote was second in the 400-meter run (1:01.28) marking her personal best and breaking the school record. She placed fourth in the 800-meter run (2:26.04) and was second in the discus with a personal best mark of 109-1.
The Vikings will make a strong showing in Laurel this weekend, with several team members earning berths at state.
