Science on Tap: Mental Health and Climate Change – 6:30 p.m. May 30 at the Durham in Polson; Jennifer Robohm, a clinical professor in behavioral medicine, presents this installment of a free five-part speaker series that explores the intersection of climate change and human health science. The series is sponsored by the Flathead Lakers and Flathead Lake Bio Station.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Registration Kick Off – 9 a.m.-5 p.m. May 31 at the North Lake County Library's temporary home in the Methodist Church in Polson: Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is dedicated to inspiring a love of reading by gifting books free of charge to children from birth to age five. The North Lake County Public Library District is the affiliate for all children in Lake County (except Arlee, which has its own program). Children receive a new book each month, delivered right to their home. The registration kick-off includes goody bags, cookies and drinks. Children may also be registered anytime online at www.imaginationlibrary.com.
Flathead Lake Rock Skipping Championships – 10-11:30 a.m. June 3 at The Cove Deli and Riverside Recreation in Polson; all proceeds fund the Ken Avison Memorial Scholarship. This “Bring Your Own Rocks” event begins with registration and a rules clinic at the Cove, a bagpipe-led procession to Riverside Recreation on the Flathead River and opening ceremonies. Winners in two age categories (12 and under and 13 and over) will be crowned the Montana State Champion.
Farmers’ Markets – Ronan: 3:30-6:30 p.m. Thursdays, through Oct. 12 at the Ronan Visitor’s Center (www.facebook.com/RonanFarmersMarket/); Polson: 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Fridays through mid-October on 3rd Ave. W. (polsonfarmersmarket.com). Support local famers and crafters at these weekly markets.
Open Mic and Jam – 7 p.m. Fridays at the Western Montana Musicians Co-op, Ronan; also on tap is a weekly Community Jam at 7 p.m. Saturdays. The cooperative is located in the Red Poppy Building, 1 Eisenhower St. SW in Ronan. Learn more at www.mtmusic.org.
