Last week Armed Forces Day was celebrated and May 29 is Memorial Day. Remember those who are dear to us, particularly those who offered their lives or lost their lives in military service. Check this newspaper for events scheduled in our community.

Notice to clients receiving meal deliveries: If you will not be available to accept your meal at the time of delivery, place a small insulated and iced container outside of your entry to allow for the storage of your meal until you return. The meal will not be delivered without your presence or without an iced container. If you will be unavailable on the day of delivery, please give the center advanced notice.

The center is hiring additional staff for food service, full or part-time. Stop by for an application.

We are also looking for additional members for the board of directors – only one short meeting each month, usually in the a.m. of the second Friday. Volunteer to serve the seniors in the Polson area. We need your help!

Activities at the Polson center, open to all, include: low-impact exercise, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; pinochle, noon-3 p.m. Thursdays (we offer free instruction, cookies and advice); bingo, 7 p.m. Fridays ($100 payout on blackouts), with playing card bingo on the first and third Wednesdays. The pool table is open 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays. Mahjong players gather at noon Wednesdays (more game sets are needed).

A veteran’s representative will visit the center from 10 a.m.-noon Friday, June 2, and Tuesday, June 18.

Meals are available for sit-down, take-out or delivery from 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. weekdays and cost $5. The menu is posted each week at the center; call before 10 a.m. for deliveries.

This week’s main dishes include Polish dogs, May 25; Birthday Dinner for Lunch, featuring roast beef and all the trimmings, May 26; chicken strips, May 30; and Swiss-style hamburger steak, May 31.

The center is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays at 504 3rd Ave. E. For more information, call 406-883-4735 or email polsonseniorcenter@gmail.com.
