Robert John "Bob" Kain, 77

Robert John Kain, age 77 of Dixon, passed away on Friday, Oct. 13, 2023, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Polson due to end-stage COPD.

He was born on Sept. 16, 1946, in Hamilton to Fred and Mabel (Smith) Kain. Bob graduated from Dixon High School in 1965. He enjoyed basketball, playing on the Dixon Demons all four years of high school. He also enjoyed hunting from a young age. 

On Sept. 4, 1971, he married Janice Doris Boland in Hood River, Ore. The couple lived in Spokane, Wash., and the Dalles, Ore., for a short period of time before moving to Dixon in late 1972. There Bob continued his love of basketball, playing on the “town” team and being able to hunt familiar and favorite areas. He then also began enjoying gardening and maintaining the yard and home.

Bob was always hard working, truthful and honest. He was a wonderful father and loving husband and will be missed by all those who loved and knew him.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Mabel; three brothers, his older brother, Bill, and two younger brothers, Steve and Brett.

Bob is survived by his wife, Janice, of Dixon; one son, Kevin (Heather) of Dixon; one grandson, Kody (Alyson) of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one great-granddaughter, Adalynn age 2; one brother, Ron of Charlo; two sisters, Susan (Bill) of Libby and Lois (Mark) of Plains; one brother-in-law, Gary Boland (Kathy) of Hayden, Idaho; along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.
