An Arlee man is accused of breaking into a home and stealing numerous items, including two electric-powered scooters. Nathan Allen Coulson, 23, entered a plea of not guilty in Polson District Court Nov. 8 to felony burglary.

According to court records, on June 11, a man reported that he was remodeling a relative’s house in Arlee, and found an upstairs window open and items missing, including two electric-powered Segway scooters. The reporting party suspected a man and woman who were caught on the property the day before.

During an investigation, law enforcement learned that several witnesses had seen Coulson and a woman, later identified as Larae Rose Rutherford, riding the scooters. One of the scooters was recovered from a resident in the area. Rutherford was located at a nearby campsite.

Several items that were stolen from the remodeling job were located and recovered. Rutherford admitted that she and Coulson entered the residence, stole the items and sold the scooters. A $25,000 warrant was issued for Coulson’s arrest.

Judge Molly Owen set the case for trial May 6. The state did not object to Coulson being released on his own recognizance.
