The Polson Elks Lodge hosted a Veteran’s Appreciation Dinner on Saturday evening at 6 p.m. A veteran’s ticket to the steak dinner was his or her ID card from the Veteran’s Administration. Spouses and significant others were also invited.

Jo Durand, Tracy Plaiss, and their excellent kitchen crew grilled 12-ounce steaks and prepared twice-baked potatoes, bacon-wrapped carrots, spinach salad with homemade dressing, and a dessert. Veterans also received a complimentary cocktail.

About 30 Veterans and spouses attended, including Grand Exalted Ruler Gail Nelson and his wife, Barb. Most attendees complimented the meal, the service and the cook.

According to organizers, the meal is a way to thank veterans for their service and remember the soldiers, sailors and pilots who never came home.
