Polson Seniors: Emptying the Christmas shed

This year I am putting up Christmas decorations early. I might be done by Nov. 24. This is the only time during the year that my storage shed is empty. I may as well call it my Christmas Shed.

Need a ride in Polson area for groceries, health care, visit your bank, or other necessities? Must be 65 or older and in need. Call 24 hours in advance. Round trip is $5 and available 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays only.

Space is available for playing board games or cards Gather some friends and bring your own board. A communal jigsaw puzzle always going, and we have a small library.

Senior bowling is available at 1 p.m. Tuesdays ($13 lane fee); open group with no weekly commitment.

Activities at the Polson center, open to all, include: self-guided, video-assisted exercise, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; pinochle, noon-3 p.m. Thursdays; bingo, 7 p.m. Fridays, with playing card bingo on the first and third Wednesdays. The pool table is open 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays. Inquire at the center about bridge.

A veteran’s representative will visit the center Friday, Dec. 1, and Tuesday, Dec. 19, from 10 a.m.-noon.

Meals are available for sit-down, take-out or delivery from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. weekdays; a suggested donation of $5 helps support the nutrition program. The menu is posted each week at the center, although it’s subject to change. Call before 10 a.m. for deliveries (some restrictions apply.

Upcoming main dishes include: Alice’s casserole, Nov. 30; baked fish, Dec. 1; turkey noodle soup, Dec. 4; red spaghetti, yellow corn, white garlic bread, green salad and orange cake, Dec. 5; baked chicken, Dec. 6; hamburger steak, Dec. 7; and homemade pizza, Dec. 8.
