Turkey Trotters prepare for pie and stuffing

There were no turkeys participating in Polson Running’s Turkey Trot, unless you count Trevor Montgomery in his turkey costume.
The fun run has become an annual pre-Thanksgiving feast event. This year about 100 people from kids to adults showed up, according to Lauren Arnold from Polson Running.
There was sunshine, which may have helped the turn out, Arnold said, or maybe it was the pies randomly handed out at the finish line.
The fun run began at Century 21 across from Safeway at 9 a.m. Nov. 23, and runners and walkers headed out the walking path parallel to Hwy. 35. The entry fee was $5, and the proceeds, which amounted to $1,137 according to the Polson Running Facebook page, went to Polson Loaves and Fish.
Some runners came in costume, such as Matt Seeley in a tattered tutu. There were babies and toddlers in strollers and dogs accompanying their owners, including the Delaney family’s Lava.
The family-friendly atmosphere included Thanksgiving decorations at the starting gate, and spectators and runners cheering each other on.
Since it was a fun run, the runners weren’t timed, but pies were handed out to lucky finishers.
