Pirates push past Libby
Polson pulled away into the second half against Northwestern A foe Libby for a 5-2 victory on Saturday, Sept. 30. The win moved the Pirates above .500 for their 5-4 season record and evened their conference record at 3-3.
Four minutes into the game, Polson scored first with an Anthony Lichtenberg goal from a Lucian Sawyer assist. Libby would answer back six minutes later, but Litchenberg notched his second goal in the 20th minute, also from Sawyer's assist. This would be the go-ahead goal, and the Pirates never relinquished the lead.
In the 36th minute, Polson's Robert Merchant scores on a penalty kick to make it 3-1. Libby scored just before stoppage time to make it 3-2 at the half.
In the 50th minute, Lichtenberg scored on a Jackson Bontadelli assist, and Sawyer scored in the 76th minute.
Polson took 21 shots, 17 of which were on goal. Its goalkeeper, Maddox Bird, notched nine saves.

Davis and Heiser score pair of goals in Polson victory
London Davis and Myranda Heiser each had two goals as the Polson girls downed Libby 4-2 in Northwestern A soccer action on Saturday, Sept. 30.
Polson scored early with a goal from Davis in the ninth minute. Heiser followed that up with a score on a Mady Luikart assist, and the Lady Pirates headed into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
Three minutes after the start of the second half, Davis scored her second goal thanks to an assist from Heiser.
Libby scored goals in the 53rd and 72nd minutes, and then Heiser iced the game with a score for the Lady Pirates on a Mady Luikart pass in the 73rd minute.
Polson finished with 13 shots, including 10 on goal, while Lady Pirate goalkeeper Ellie Dupuis had four saves. The team improved to 4-6 on the season and 2-4 in conference play.
