Charlo defeats Mission 30-6
Charlo picked up all its touchdowns on the ground and came away with the 30-6 Western C eight-man football victory on Friday, Sept. 29 against Mission in St. Ignatius. Tayre Brown ran the ball for 63 yards on 10 carries, and the Vikings evened their record to 3-3.
In the first quarter, Charlo scored first with a one-yard touchdown run by Jacob Tomlin. Brown and Hayden Hollow each had touchdown runs in the second quarter, but the Bulldogs answered back before halftime with a 65-yard touchdown pass to Bryce Umphrey to make it 22-6 Vikings at halftime.
The second half was a defensive battle, and Ryan Sharbono’s five-yard touchdown run rounded out the scoring for the Vikings.
Mission finished with 170 passing yards, but Charlo held their running game in check. On the flip side, the Vikings racked up 133 yards on the ground, and Hollow passed for 68 yards on 5-for-5 passing. On defense, Hollow had four tackles and one assist.
The loss dropped Mission to 3-3 on the season. Umphrey finished the game with four catches for 77 yards.
