Local cross-country teams fare well in Whitefish, Hamilton
Polson frosh lead charge at Whitefish Invitational
The Polson girls' cross country team was the top-finishing Class A school at the Whitefish Invitational, placing third behind Flathead and Glacier on Tuesday, Sept. 26. Freshman Morgan Delaney placed third (19:22.56) for the Lady Pirates, continuing her impressive running season.
The Polson boys placed fifth, the third-best finish among Class A schools. Freshman Jackson Bontadelli was the top-finishing Pirate, placing fourth (16:43.36.)
The Polson girls had a 14th-place finish from Isabel Seeley (21:04.66), while Adison Carlson was 20th (21:24.69). Katelyn Smith was 30th (22:59.11), and Brittian Davis rounded out the top five Polson finishers, placing 32nd (22:59.30).
Two Eagle River's Dayani Piapot finished 45th (27:18.94), while Olivia Brueggeman was 52nd (29:02.21).
On the boys' side, David DiGiallonardo placed 15th for the Pirates (17:22.20), and Brandt Heninger was 30th (18:09.08). Hayden Clairmont was 37th (18:34.68), while Kai McDonald was 46th (19:11.40).
Two Eagle's Jabez Madplume was 20th (17:32.24), and Malacye Piapot was 32nd (18:17.66).
Ronan runners finish third
The Ronan boys cross-country team finished third at the Hamilton Invite on Sept. 28, showcasing their depth as a squad by finishing three runners in a row.
Tayen Edmon finished 20th for the Chiefs (18:09.65), while William Normandeau was 21st (18:14.14), and Jacob Piapot was 22nd (18:15.27). Benjamin Running Rabbit was 24th (18:21.63).
Mission’s Harlon Leishman finished 11th (17:45.67), and Two Eagle River’s Jabez Madplume was 17th (18:02.95). Madplume’s teammate, Malacye Piapot, was 28th (18:39.01), while Ronan’s Devin Big Medicine was 33rd (18:50.62).
On the girls’ side, Saellah Nomee led all Ronan runners, placing 39th (24:21.41), while teammate Annie Adams finished 40th (24:21.47). Mission’s Ellanah Flatlip placed 43rd (24:42.55).
