Delaney wins at Mission Shadow Duels
The Polson girls cross-country team won the 2023 Mission Shadow Duels in Pablo on Saturday, Oct. 7, while the Ronan boys took second and the Polson boys took fourth.
Morgan Delaney was the top girl finisher, placing first for the Lady Pirates at 19:22.56. Teammate Isabel Seeley placed fourth (21:19) and Adison Carlson took seventh (21:53).
Arlee’s Anola Naugl placed eighth (22:13). Polson’s Brittian Davis was 14th (23:18), and teammate Katelyn Smith was 22nd (24:26). Ronan’s Annie Adams was 26th (24:35) and fellow Maiden Maddie Duffy was 26th (24:42).
On the boys' side, Mission’s Harlon Leishman was fifth (17:20), Polson freshman David DIGiallonardo was sixth (17:20), while Jackson Bontadelli was seventh (17.29). Ronan’s William Normandeau was ninth (17:45), and teammate Tayen Edmo was 13th (17:50).
Jacob Piapot was 15th for the Chiefs with a time of 18:07, and Devin BigMedicine was 17th (18:20). Polson’s Kai McDonald was 20th (18:27), Mission’s Hayden Smith was 21st (18:31), while Ronan’s Koda King was 23rd (18:34). Brandt Heninger rounded out the top 25, posting an 18:38 for the Pirates.
Mission wins team boys title, medalist honors
Mission’s Harlon Leishman was the top finisher in the boys' race of the Hatchery Challenge and Guppy Run on Tuesday, Oct. 3, in Arlee. Leishman finished with a time of 17:40.47, which was well below the second-place finish time of 17:25.76, and helped secure top honors for the team.
Two Eagle River’s Malacye Piapot was fifth (18:57.31), while his teammate, Jabez Madplume was sixth (19:01.98). Two Eagle River placed second in the team scoring/
Mission’s Hayden Smith was seventh with a time of 19:10.66. Two Eagle River’s Jamian Adams arrived in 10th place (19:38.75), and Mission’s Sawyer Pule was 11th (19:52.27).
Arlee’s top finisher was Trevor VanMaanen in 13th (20:05.63), while teammate Drew Knoll was 16th (20:29.71). Mission’s Jake Helser was 19th (20:52.19), while Arlee’s Aiden Swab was 20th (21:01.34).
On the girls' side, Arlee’s Anola Naugle placed third as a freshman with a time of 21:48.59, while teammate Lilybelle Buffalo, also a freshman, was 10th (24:53.03).
Mission’s Cora Matt was 12th (26:26.92), while Two Eagle River’s Olivia Brueggeman was 18th (28:27.47).
