The game was a close affair until the closing minutes in the Class A State Quarterfinals Oct. 14, but Polson fell on the road 3-0 to the No. 1 seed from the east, Billings Central, to conclude their season.

The Pirates, having qualified for the playoffs by finishing third in the Northwest A Conference, held off the undefeated Rams in the first half despite a lengthy road trip to Amend Park in Billings.

In the 55th minute, Luke Pankratz was taken down near the goal and received a penalty kick, where he converted the Rams' first score of the game.

Two minutes later, Jake Milroy scored on a pass from Drake Tourtlotte to put Billings Central up 2-0. Five minutes before stoppage time, Pankratz scored his second goal of the game on an assist from Cole Bland.

Polson, which has qualified for the state playoffs for two years running, finishes the season 5-7.
