Local schools land in Top 10 at State Cross Country Meet

Two Eagle has two finishers in Top Ten

Two Eagle placed third at the Class C Cross Country Championships at Rebecca Farm in Kalispell. Jabez Madplume placed sixth with a personal best of 17:05.66, while Two Eagle teammate Malacye Piapot came in 10th, also with a personal best (17:35.03).


On the girls’ side, Dayani Piapot was 37th (26:02.72), while Olivia Brueggeman was 55th (28:28.55). Maxe Bell was 63rd (29:43.34), and Carla Morigeau was 73rd (33:12.87).


Delaney, Bontadelli top finishers for Pirates

The Polson girls placed 10th at the State A Cross Country Championships on Saturday in Kalispell, aided by Polson freshman Morgan Delaney who finished 10th with a time of 19:51.66. The boys claimed 10th as well, with help from fellow freshman Jackson Bontadelli, who placed 14th at 16:42.59.

In addition to Bontadelli’s showing, Polson’s David DiGiallonardo was 33rd (17:28.56), and Hayden Clairmont was 62nd (18:07.37) with his personal best time. Also finishing for the Pirates were Brandt Heninger in 65th (18:11.48), and Chase Peidalue in 103rd with a personal best (19:11.65). Kai McDonald was 109th (19:31.57), and Christopher Sopke was 140th (20:40.76).


For the girls, Adison Carlson was 31st (21:19.78), and Isabel Seeley wasn’t far behind in 37th (21:36.57). Also rounding out state participation for the Lady Pirates were Araeya Nelson in 88th (23:58.69), Brittian Davis in 90th (24:07.06), Katelyn Smith in 96th (24:49.57), and Karly Smith in 118th (26:14.77).

Ronan’s Saellah Nomee placed 99th, while Annie Adams was 92nd (24:46.06) and Maddie Duffey was 105th (25:11.00). Also finishing for the Maidens was KyLynn DustyBull in 126th (27:08.39), Gracie Heiner in 127th (27:09.53) and Mira Corum in 143rd (31:09.75).

Ronan boys placed 12th at the state meet. Jacob Piapot was 45th (17:46.57) and teammate William Normandeau was 48th (17:50.50). Also placing for the Chiefs were Tayen Edmo in 54th (17:59.45), Devin BigMedicine in 56th with a personal best (18:04.74), Koda King in 80th (18:31.39), Wade Qualtier in 89th (18:44.09) and Jhett McDonald in 96th (18:56.10).

Bulldogs finish ninth at State B Championships

The Mission Bulldogs finished ninth at the State B Cross Country Championships, with Harlon Leishman finishing 14th at 17:16.76, followed by teammate Hayden Smith, who was 25th (17:55.39) with a personal best.

Also finishing for the Bulldogs were Sawyer Pule in 89th (19:38.02), Jake Helser in 94th (19:51.58), Branson Zempel in 123rd (20:33.89), Jason Leishman in 169th (22:09.16) and Adam Sheumaker in 171st (22:10.61) with a personal best.

Arlee’s Trevor VanMaanen was 133rd (20:57.31), Drew Knoll was 134th (21:02.58), Aiden Swab was 140th (21:20.56) and Chase Corville was 180th (22:34.84). William Fisher was 204th (24:33.12), and Joseph Romas was 208th (25:29.03).

On the girls' side, Arlee’s Anola Naugle was 39th (22:44.44), while teammate Lilybelle Buffalo was 88th (24:30.08). Mission’s Ellanah Flatlip was 73rd (23:59.78), while teammate Cora Matt was 155th (28:46.01). Abby Gillan was 166th (29:45.16) for the Lady Bulldogs, while Kason Page was 170th (31:32.42).
