A 63-year-old Pablo man who died in a camper-trailer fire last week has been identified as Steven L. Rosenbaum, according to Lake County Sheriff Don Bell. His two dogs, Sneak and Buddy, also died in the blaze.

The Ronan Fire Department responded to the blaze at around 2:30 a.m. Oct. 13. According to Ronan Fire Chief Chris Adler, Pablo Engine 812 was the first to arrive on the scene and found the camper engulfed in flames. He added that the Lake County Sheriff’s Department and State Fire Marshal’s Office conducted their own investigation and concluded that the fire may have been caused by a propane leak. No foul play is suspected.

The camper, which Adler estimated was about 16 feet long, was parked in the Northwood Trailer Park, located off the frontage road between Clairmont Road and Courville Trail.

According to an obituary in this week’s Leader, Rosenbaum was originally from South Dakota, where he worked for many years as a master drywall taper. He moved to the Mission Valley in 2007 to be closer to his children and grandchildren.
