Polson Seniors: Prepare for All Hallows Eve

The hallowed evening before All Saints’ Day is coming up on Tuesday, as if you needed a reminder. I buy those mixed candy bags. I sort out all the ones that have mostly orange wrapping for myself and give the kids the other brands when they threaten me with a prank.

There is a gift in giving, but I have a limit.

Due to increasing meal deliveries, we have added another route and need help from more volunteer drivers – now! Shifts can we one day, a few days, or all week – please volunteer.

The position of cafeteria cook position is available. Contact Kaye at the center.

Baily Insurance offers assistance and advice with Medicare, Prescription Drug and Supplement plans Oct. 30 and Nov. 13 from 1-3 p.m. at the Senior Center.

Senior bowling is available at 1 p.m. Tuesdays; open group with no weekly commitment.

Activities at the Polson center, open to all, include: self-guided, video assisted exercise, sitting or standing, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; pinochle, noon-3 p.m. Thursdays; bingo, 7 p.m. Fridays ($100 payout on blackouts), with playing card bingo on the first and third Wednesdays. The pool table is open 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays. Inquire at the center about bridge – a new club is being formed.

A veteran’s representative will visit the center Friday, Nov. 3, and Tuesday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m.-noon.

Meals are available for sit-down, take-out or delivery from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. weekdays; a suggested donation of $5 helps support the nutrition program. The menu is posted each week at the center, although it’s subject to change. Call before 10 a.m. for deliveries (some restrictions apply.

Upcoming main dishes include: Polish dogs, Oct. 26; birthday dinner for lunch, with roast pork and all the fixins’, Oct. 27; navy bean and ham soup, Oct. 30; scary cat chicken with ghost dressing, bloody beets, frog-eye salad and pumpkin cake, Oct. 31; goulash, Nov. 1; ham loaf, Nov. 2; and chicken sandwiches, Nov. 3.
