Superior defeats Mission

Mission fell to Superior 68-30 in Western eight-man football action on the road last Friday, Oct. 21, concluding their 2023 campaign with a 4-4 record.

With the win, Superior improved to 5-3 on the year and earned the Western eight-man’s fourth seed in the state playoffs.

The game started with plenty of fireworks as Superior and Mission traded scores in the first and second quarters. Landon Walks Over Ice hauled in a 60-yard pass from Mission quarterback Titan Mansell, and Kelby Dumont ripped off a 21-yard run to put the Bulldogs up 16-14 in the first quarter.

Superior scored two more touchdowns to go up 26-16, but Mansell would strike again, throwing a 30-yard pass to Lex Lafrombois to make it 26-22. The Superior rush couldn’t be stopped, however, and the Bobcats ripped off two more touchdown runs to go up 40-22.

Before halftime, however, Mansell threw his third touchdown pass of the game, and Lex Lafrombois caught his second touchdown pass to pull Mission within 40-30 at the break.

In the second half, however, Mission couldn’t find the endzone, and Superior scored four unanswered touchdown passes.
