Ronan beats Browning in five sets

Ronan improved to 6-6 in Northwest A Conference play with a thrilling five-set victory over Browning on Wednesday, Oct. 18. The Maidens came back from two sets down to defeat Browning 13-25, 22-25, 25-19, 25-21, 15-9.

Zailee Hewankorn had 39 assists for Ronan, while Kailyn Marengo had 24 digs, and Sierra Blood had 13. Lauryn Buhr led the way with 13 kills, while Olivia Cheff had nine kills. Buhr also had 2.5 blocks, while Blood posted four aces, and Marengo had three.

Browning fell to 2-11 on the season.

Mission prepares for 7B tournament

Mission fell to Florence in Western B volleyball action on Tuesday, Oct. 17, by scores of 25-16, 20-25, 25-20, 25-19. Izzy Evans led the team with six kills, while Cora Matt had five.

Evans also had 16 digs, and Jada Domebo had 15.

Amelia Cronk dished out 10 assists for the Lady Bulldogs, while Rowan McElderry and Evans each had blocks.

The Lady Bulldogs now shift their focus to the Western 7B district tournament, where they come in with a four seed after finishing the regular season 5-5 in their conference and 7-8 overall.

“Our district is shaping up to be tough, yet it’s very exciting to see the improvements of all the teams,” Mission Head Coach Marissa Mock said. “Eureka, Thompson Falls and Plains will be our most challenging games. We have played very well against these teams, and I can’t wait to see how we do against them in the postseason.”

Mock added standouts Izzy Evans, Alecia Steele, Rowan McElderry and Amelia Cronk have been vital to the Bulldogs' success, which improved on a 6-15 record from last season.
