Polson’s Hupka wins Frenchtown invite

Polson golfer Carson Hupka won the Frenchtown Invite on Thursday, Aug. 31, and he was joined by teammates Otto Lunch and Torrin Ellis in second and third. The team effort won the overall scoring as the Pirates notched a +12, which was way ahead of Corvallis's second-place finish at +47.

Hupka shot an even-par 71, while Lund carded a 73 and Ellis notched a 75. Pirate Espn Fisher golfed a 77, as did teammate Hunter Emerson, to tie for fifth.

Ronan's Oliver Rowe was 11th (84), while teammate Colter Cornwell was tied for 14th (86). Cooper Clary scored a 93 to tie for 26th, and Connor Durglo was tied for 30th (95).

On the girls' side, Polson's Ashley Maki shot an 86 to place second behind Frenchtown's Katie Lewis, who notched a 75. Fellow Lady Pirate Clair Konen was tied for third with a 94, and Kyle Seifer was tied for sixth for Polson with a 97. Kila Cannon rounded out the top 10 for the Lady Pirates, carding a 101.

The Lady Pirates won first place as a team as they finished +94 compared to second-place Dillon at +113.

"We had a great day in Frenchtown for both squads," Polson Head Golf Coach Cameron Milton said. "We need to be at or just below 300 strokes each day team-wise (top four scores) to be competitive with Laurel on the boys' side. Girls need to be around 380 each day of state to be competitive on the girls' side."

Ronan's Mady Evlo was tied for 15th (106), while teammate Emma Smith was tied for 22nd (119).

Ellis places second at Whitefish Invite

The Polson boys placed second at the Whitefish Western A Invitational on Tuesday, Aug. 28, as Torrin Ellis placed second by shooting a one over par 72. Carson Hupka placed third, shooting a two-over 73.

Ronan's Colter Cornwell placed 11th with an 80 as the Chiefs' top finisher, while Oliver Rowe came in 17th with an 84.

Polson's Cole Cross placed 29 (94), and Ronan's Cooper Clary was 33rdd (95). Ronan's Rey Samsel carded a 96 to tie for 35th, and Connor Durglo was 37th with a 97.

On the girls' side, Mady Evelo placed 17th for Ronan by shooting a 107, while her teammate Emma Smith tied for 29th with a 124.

Fisher leads Polson at Columbia Falls Invite

Espn Fisher placed third to lead the Pirates at the Columbia Falls Invitational at Meadow Lakes Golf Course on Monday, Aug. 27. Fisher carded a 76, which was four above par, and also scored a hole-in-one.

"Espn had a really solid round of golf, but the ace really helps," Milton said. "Meadow Lake is an extremely difficult golf course, so that's why scores were higher."

Carson Hupka tied for fourth, shooting a 79, while teammate Torrin Ellis was tied for sixth with an 80.

Colter Cornwell was Ronan's highest-placing golfer, notching an 84, while Oliver Rowe was 21st (95), and Cooper Clay was tied for 26th (100).
