Polson Seniors: “Living in America” talk on Sept. 7
Joanne and Jim Simpson and the Polson Senior Center will present: "Living in America: An Immigrant Story of Haiti: From Slavery to the 21st Century" by Mr. Turnier Esperance on Thursday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. Those interested may also join us via Zoom; email haitiansportsfoundation@gmail.com for a link to the presentation.
Our annual membership drive kicks off the second week in September. Think of a free banana split during the week when your buy a membership for just $15 in an organization that serves the senior community in Polson every day of the year.
AARP Driver Class (no test!) will keep you current on safety for aging drivers. The next class is Sept. 12, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the center and is mostly a video presentation with a written guide booklet and a group leader. The cost is $25 with discounts for AARP Members.
Flu and/or pneumonia shots are free to those with a Medicare card and available from 10 a.m.-noon Sept. 28 at the center.
Activities at the Polson center, open to all, include: low-impact exercise, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; pinochle, noon-3 p.m. Thursdays; bingo, 7 p.m. Fridays ($100 payout on blackouts), with playing card bingo on the first and third Wednesdays. The pool table is open 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays.
A veteran’s representative visits the center from 10 a.m.-noon Sept. 19.
Meals are available for sit-down, take-out or delivery from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. weekdays; a suggested donation of $5 helps support the nutrition program. The menu is posted each week at the center; call before 10 a.m. for deliveries.
Upcoming main dishes include tacos, Sept. 7; pork chops, Sept. 8; chicken wild rice soup, Sept. 11; pork tips, Sept. 13; meatloaf, Sept. 14; and pizza, Sept. 15.
