Here Comes the Sun: Mission Valley Live series kicks off Sept. 27

| September 21, 2023 12:00 AM

Mission Valley Live introduces a new season of live music with Here Comes the Sun – Beatles Tribute – 7 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Ronan Performing Arts Center.

The series, founded in February 2015, brings professional, live performing arts programs to Mission Valley audiences, including evening concerts and educational outreach programs.

This year’s series opens with a Beatles tribute band, featuring five top-notch vocalists and instrumentalists, celebrating the hits and the “B-sides” of one of the most influential musical groups ever. Why five performers? The Beatles were obviously the “Fab Four,” but they couldn’t perform much of their music live due to its complexity. By adding a fifth member, the band creates a fresh and vibrant concert experience.

Next up in Pamyua, performing Oct. 28 at Polson High School auditorium. This unusual musical quartet blends Inuit drum/dance melodies with R&B vocal styling and arrangements.

Since forming in 2015, Robin Layne and The Rhythm Makers have been filling dance floors around Vancouver, B.C., and performing at festivals across Canada and beyond. They perform Nov. 10 at the Ronan Performing Arts Center.

Pollo Loco (aka Crazy Chicken), brings foot stompin' country music from Great Falls to Polson High on Jan. 26.

NIC + DESI, featuring Nicolas Dromard and Desiree Davar, sing, dance, and share their love story in a duo celebration of classic and contemporary Broadway on March 1 at Polson High.

The String Fever String Quartet, appearing March 29 at Ronan Performing Arts Center, features five- and six-stringed electric violins, called violectras, plus a viola and a cello.

The ninth season ends with Montana’s own John Roberts y Pan Blanco, performing April 25 at Polson High. With vocals in Spanish, English and Portuguese, this group melds high-energy funk, African and Latin grooves with soulful instrumental solos, aimed at sharing musical and cultural diversity with the audience.
