Polson golfers shine in Kalispell
The Polson girls' golf team won the Kalispell Invitational last Wednesday and Thursday, while the boys' team had Carson Hupka go to a playoff for the individual championship, which eventually went to Glacier’s Cunningham after five holes.
The Pirates finished third, showcasing just how strong the Class A school is doing with competition from many AA schools at the invite.
Ashley Maki led the Lady Pirates, shooting an 86 and 79 and placing fourth. Kyle Seifer was 11th with a 185. Kila Cannon shot a 189 for 15th place, and Clare Konen was 17th with a 192.
On the boys' side, Hupka golfed a 72-69 to tie with first place Trevor Cunningham’s 71-70, and the winner was decided in playoff golf. The two battled for several holes, and eventually, the two played Northern Pines Golf Course’s 19th hole – a makeshift par-3 that ends at a practice green by the clubhouse.
Cunningham parred the hole to win.
Still, Polson finished third, bolstered by a bevy of top finishes against AA competition. Christian Lund was eighth (151), while Espn Fisher was 24th (164) and Hunter Emerson was 25th (165).
