Polson soccer falls to Whitefish

Whitefish downed Polson 8-0 in Northwest A action on Thursday, Sept. 14. The Bulldogs scored six goals in the second half and limited the Pirates to three shots.

Griffin Gunlikson got Whitefish on the board first in the eighth minute on an assist from Collin Lyman. Preston McPherson scored in the 19th minute on an assist from Ryder Ellition and the Bulldogs headed into halftime with a 2-0 lead.

In the 62nd minute, Sam Dow scored on a Lyman assist, and then scored again in the 65th minute thanks to a Kyler Jonson pass.

Logan Bingham scored in the 75th minute for Whitefish and then Jonson scored twice at the end of the game, one assisted by Bingham.

Polson fell to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in league play.

Linchtenberg leads Polson past Bigfork

Anthony Lichtenberg had three first-half goals as Polson downed Bigfork 4-1 on Tuesday, Sept. 12 in Northwest A soccer action. All of the Pirates’ goals occurred in the first half.

Linchtenberg scored in the eighth and 27th minute, then a Pablo Gatell assist led to his third goal in the 33rd minute.

Ashten Nelson scored in the 39th minute on a Robert Merchant assist to round out the Pirates scoring. In the second half, Bigfork found the net in the 60th minute.

The game featured 21 fouls and three yellow cards. Polson had five corner-kick opportunities compared to Bigfork’s four.
