Arlee woman charged with criminal mischief, assaulting child
An Arlee woman is accused of breaking numerous windows and injuring a child during a domestic disturbance. Kya Rae Dede Rose Arthur, 28, entered a plea of not guilty in District Court in Polson Sept. 21.
She’s charged with misdemeanor partner or family member assault and felony charges of criminal mischief and assault on a minor.
According to charging documents, on Aug. 14, a Lake County Sheriff’s deputy responded to Innovation Drive, south of Ronan, on a report of a woman breaking windows and threatening people with a knife. The responding deputy was informed that the suspect was leaving the scene in a silver van.
The deputy located the van and ordered the driver, later identified as Arthur, to exit the van. She admitted that she grabbed a hammer and had broken out the windshield and passenger window of the reporting party’s vehicle.
Meanwhile, another deputy with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office spoke to the reporting party, identified by the initials K. B., who claimed he was sleeping when Arthur entered his home and came into his bedroom. He said Arthur woke him up and threw their 4-month-old infant onto the bed.
Arthur allegedly smashed out the window to a sliding-glass door to the residence, along with windows to vehicles on the property. Total damage was estimated at $3,850.
K. B. stated that he later took the 4-month-old child to an area hospital where bruising on the infant’s side and back were treated.
Judge Deborah “Kim” Christopher set the case for trial Feb. 26. Arthur is at liberty.
