Local runners compete in Missoula, T-Falls

Delaney top local finisher at Mountain West

The Mountain West Classic cross-country meet was a massive affair, with over 800 runners and 63 schools competing in Missoula on Saturday, Sept. 23. Mission Valley athletes found a way to shine against much bigger schools from Washington, Idaho and Montana.

On the girls' side, Polson freshman Morgan Delaney placed 33rd (20:02.9), while teammate Isabel Seeley was 137th (21:46.2) and Adison Carlson was 151st (21:58.3).

Arlee’s Anola Naugle was 172nd (22:16.6).

On the boys' side, freshman Jackson Bontadelli was Polson’s top finisher, placing 85th (17:15.3), while sophomore David DiGiallonardo was 124th (17:41.4). Mission’s Harlon Leishman was 140th (17:49.6) and Ronan’s Jacob Piapot was 154th (17:58.0).

Ronan places fourth at Thompson Falls Invite

The Ronan boys placed fourth, while the Mission boys placed sixth at the Thompson Falls Invitational at Rivers Bend Golf Course on Tuesday, Sept. 19. Mission’s Harlon Leishman was the top valley finisher, placing sixth (17:32.68), and Ronan’s Rayden Edmo was 14th (18:14.48).

Jacob Piapot was 17th (18:18.77), while William Normandeau was 20th (18:36.34), and Benjamin Running Rabbit was 21st (18:37.83). Devin Big Medicine was 24th for Ronan (18:40.34) while Koda King was 26th (18:46.55)

Two Eagle River’s Jabez Madplume was 27th (18:47.90), and Maclacye Piapot was 28th (18:48.26).

On the girls’ side, Arlee freshman Anola Naugle was the Mission Valley’s top finisher, placing 12th (21.42.4), while Mission’s Ellanah Flatlip was 30th (24:10.0). Arlee’s Lilybelle Buffalo was 32nd (24:18.1), and Ronan’s Maddie Duffey was 37th (24:58.7).
