Polson posts another big week

Polson had another big week in Western A volleyball action, picking up two wins and improving their record to 6-2 overall and 5-1 in conference play.

On Thursday, Sept. 21, they downed Bigfork in three sets, 25-18, 25-23 and 25-17. Mckenna Hanson led the attack with eight kills while Kellyn Nelson had seven kills.

Avery Starr had a big evening serving with six aces, and also dished out 25 assists. At the net, Nelson had three blocks for the Lady Pirates. Julie Barnard and Hannah Simpson each had 11 digs.

Bigfork fell to 3-3 on the year.

Polson won a five-set marathon with Western A foe Columbia Falls on Tuesday, Sept. 19 by scores of 25-23, 25-22, 23-25, 22-25 and 15-12. Mckenna Hanson led all players with 17 kills while Hannah Simpson had 16 kills. Polson had 12 aces as a team including three from Sam Rensvold and Simpson.

Starr had a big night directing the offense, notching 38 assists, while Emalee Alton had 27 digs on defense. Demye Rensel also had 18 digs while Maddie Moltray had 16; Polson posted 96 digs as a team.

At Columba Falls

Ronan tops Browning

Ronan outlasted Browning in five sets, 25-23, 25-14, 23-25, 22-25, 15-7 - overcoming a comeback by Browning to pick up a Western A victory on Thursday, September 21. The Maidens had 44 kills as a team with Lauryn Buhr leading the way with 15 kills.

Kyle Kelch added another 13 kills for Ronan, while Seattle Adams had 38 assists and four aces. On defense, Kaydance Santos had 19 digs while Kailyn Marengo had 12 digs. At the net, Lauryn Buhr had 3.5 blocks.

Maidens fall to Whitefish

Ronan picked up a three-set victory over Libby, 25-9, 25-11, 25-20 in Western A volleyball action on Tuesday, September 19. Seattle Adams had 22 assists for the Maidens while Kaydance Santos had eight digs and Lauryn Buhr has seven kills. Sierra Blood added six kills to the effort.

Mission wins in four

The Lady Bulldogs scored a 25-16, 25-27, 26-24, 25-15 victory over Troy at home on Saturday, Sept. 23. Cora Matt led Mission with 13 kills while Amelia Cronk had 20 assists and Izzy Evans had 19 digs. Cronk also notched five aces and Matt had four blocks in the victory.

This improved the Lady Bulldogs to 2-5 on the season.

“I am feeling confident with my teams as we move forward this season,” Mission Head Coach Marissa Mock said.

Mission drops three to Eureka

Eureka defeated Mission 25-22, 25-23, 25-18 in Class B volleyball action on Thursday, Sept. 21. The Lady Bulldogs were led by Kensey Burke’s 12 digs in the matchup. Izzy Evans had five kills while Jada Domebo had six assists. Both Evans and Domebo each had two aces, while Rowan McElderry led the team with two blocks.

“Cora Matt, Izzy Evans, and Amelia Cronk stood out to me during last week's games,” Mock said. “Matt was very dominant on the net reading overpasses and open spaces. Evans is smart at the net, while making key plays from the back row. Amelia Cronk dished out some amazing sets during the games, especially against Troy.”

Plains taken down by Arlee

Arlee downed Plains in five sets in Class B volleyball action on Saturday, Sept. 23, bolstered by seven kills from Jaydessa Haynes. Leah Mesteth dished out 14 assists, while Adalyn Jacobson had four blocks.

Saiawana Haynes helped bolster defense for the Scarlets, collecting five digs, while Haynes had five aces.

Thompson Falls sweeps Scarlets

Arlee fell to Thompson Falls 25-12, 25-11, 25-12 on the road on Thursday, Sept. 21. The Scarlets were led by Adalyn Jacobson’s five kills and four blocks, while Leah Mesteth had seven assists.

Gabi Casey had two digs and two aces in the matchup.
