An Arlee woman admitted to endangering the public during a pursuit with law enforcement. Kody Lynn Belcourt, 28, entered a plea of guilty in Polson District Court March 27 to felony criminal endangerment.

According to court records, on Aug. 29, 2023, law enforcement attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by a male wanted on outstanding warrants. The vehicle took off at speeds reaching over 100 mph, turning onto Finley Creek Road in the Arlee area and towards the Arlee Junior High School.

The vehicle eventually stopped and a male passenger, later identified as Anthony Cutfinger, fled on foot. However, the vehicle took off again toward U.S. Highway 93. Other motorists were forced to take evasive action while the pursuit continued in the wrong lane through Arlee, with the suspect’s vehicle traveling approximately 85 mph in a 45-mph zone.

The vehicle eventually stopped, but the driver, identified as Belcourt, refused to exit and resisted arrest. A search of the vehicle yielded a bag of methamphetamine.

Judge Molly Owen set a sentencing date of May 15. Belcourt remains at liberty.
