Delaney and Qualtier champions in Frenchtown

The Track and Field season got started in western Montana with the Frenchtown Invitational on Thursday, March 28. Hamilton won both the boys and girls team titles at the event, while the Ronan boys placed sixth as a team in the meet, and the Polson girls placed sixth as well.

Polson’s Morgan Delaney won the 1,600-meter run (5:25.23) and took second in the 800-meter run (2:32.57).

The Pirates' Amelia Stene was second in the 100-meter dash (13.13) and seventh in the 200-meter dash (27.72). Teammate Isabel Seeley was eighth in the 1,600-meter run (5:56.83) and fourth in the 3,200-meter run (12:44.57). Adison Carlson was ninth in the 1,600-meter run (6:00.27)

In the relay races, Polson’s 4x100 team of Aleysia Black, Ross Bishop, Keira Owen, and Amelia Stene took fifth (54.97), and its 4x400 team of Stene, Owen, Adison Carlson and Delaney took third (4:44.49). Ronan’s 4x400 relay team of Leona Dodson Howe, Lauryn Buhr, Maddy Illig, and Sarah Templer took sixth (4:47.05).

On the boys' side, Ronan’s Wade Qualtier was a champion in the 300-meter hurdles (45.45). The Chief’s Tayen Edmo was fourth in the 800-meter run (2:09.20), while Polson’s David DiGiallonardo was sixth (2:10.02). In the 1,600-meter run, DiGiallonardo was fourth (4:46.17), and Edmo was ninth (4:56.15).

Polson’s Gus Hertz was fifth in the 400-meter run (56.04), while teammate Anthony Lichtenberg placed seventh (56.81) and Ashten Nelson was eighth (57.27).

In the 3,200-meter run, Ronan’s Jacob Piapot was seventh (11:05.50), and teammate Tino Silva was ninth in the 110-meter hurdles (20.83).

In the relays, Ronan’s 4x400 team of Wade Qualtier, Tayen Edmo, Jacob Piapot and Trey Samsel was second (3:51.35). Ronan’s 4x100 team of Connor Durglo, Trey Samsel, Wade Qualtier and Kolby Finley was ninth (47.01).

In the field events, Polson’s Astin Brown was third in the shotput (48-1) and second in the discus throw (141-7.5). Ronan’s Masyn Wayman was 12th in the discus (117-4).

Ronan’s Kolby Finley was fourth in the pole vault (10-0), while Wade Qualtier was fifth in the long jump (19-10) and Connor Durglo was seventh (19-7). Durglo was also third in the triple jump (39-4), while Tino Silva was sixth (37-5.5)
