Polson man sentenced for safe and firearms theft, drug possession
A Polson man was committed in Polson District Court March 28 to a total of eight years with the Montana Department of Corrections, with six years suspended. He also had the imposition of sentencing deferred for two years on a drug possession charge.
Cirdan Zachorius Nader, 30, of Polson, had admitted Feb. 20 to stealing a safe containing guns, heroin possession, and missing court appearances.
The sentence rendered last week was in accordance with a global plea agreement reached Feb. 1 that resolves four separate cases. That agreement dismisses another drug possession charge and another bail jumping charge.
According to court records, a family member of Nader reported the theft of a safe that contained various firearms and suspected Nader. While Nader initially denied taking the safe, when confronted by law enforcement about a text message confession he had sent the family member, he admitted to taking the safe.
He could not account for the firearms, but stated he had discarded the safe at the landfill. Nader also admitted to possessing heroin on Dec. 15, 2018.
Retired Judge Robert G. Olson presided over the case via the Zoom platform. He gave Nader credit for having served 209 days in jail on two of the cases and 117 days on the other two cases.
