This is National Volunteer Month. We will recognize and celebrate the contributions of volunteers who have either formerly or currently served at our Senior Center. Help us add to our current list.

If you, or someone you know, has volunteered at the center in past years have them call us with their name, phone contact, and any information they have about their service. This would include former board members, drivers, helpers with commodities, activities leaders, instructors or any others who have shared their time and talents. Celebrations will be at lunch time during the fourth week of April.

Applications are now being accepted for Director for Nutrition, starting ASAP and full or part-time. Pick up an application and job description at the center. Some cooking experience and office skills are preferred.

Tax assistance is available at the senior center through Tax Day, April 15, sponsored by AARP. Call for an appointment time.

Save on your auto insurance by taking the AARP Safe Driver Course, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. April 23; registration is $25 ($20 for AARP members). There’s no text and it includes a lunch break.

Senior bowling continues at 1 p.m. Tuesdays ($13 lane fee).

Activities at the Polson center, open to all, include: wood carving for beginners, 1 p.m. Wednesday and Friday; self-guided, video-assisted exercise, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, sitting or standing; bingo, 6:30 p.m. Fridays ($100 blackout), with playing card bingo on the first and third Wednesdays; pinochle, 12:30-3 p.m. Thursdays.

The pool table is open 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays. Inquire at the center about bridge.

A veteran’s representative will visit the center on the first Friday and third Tuesday (April 5 and 16) from 10 a.m.-noon. Memory Café (a dementia support group) meets 1-3 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month.

Meals are available for sit-down, take-out or delivery from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. weekdays; a suggested donation of $5 helps support the nutrition program. The menu is posted each week at the center, although it’s subject to change. Call before 10 a.m. for grab-n-go.

Upcoming main dishes include: oven-baked stew, April 4; hash-brown bake with sausage, April 5; ham and wild rice soup, April 8; chicken enchiladas, April 9; Salisbury steak, April 10; pork chops, April 11; and corned-beef hash, April 12.

The center is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays at 504 3rd Ave. E. For more information, call 406-883-4735, email polsonseniorcenter@gmail.com or visit us on Facebook.
