Baseball Roundup: Polson and Ronan post wins

Polson no-hits Mission-Arlee

Wyatt Wadsworth struck out eight batters to lead Polson past Mission-Arlee 17-0 in Western Division baseball action Monday, April 8. The Pirates had six hits while also collecting six hits and advancing three batters to first after getting hit by a pitch.

Polson posted six runs in the first two innings and then exploded for 11 in the top of the third. In the big rally, Landon Shoemake drove in two runs, while Landon Pablo, Aiden Gfroerer, Cole Wadsworth, Cody Haggard and Hunter Emerson helped bring in home baserunners.

Landon Shoemake finished the game 2-for-2 with 3 RBI, while Wyatt Wadsworth smacked a double and had two RBI Haggard and Gfroerer also brought home two runs.

Mission-Arlee’s Brody Brown and Jason Leishman drew walks in the contest.

Polson improved to 7-1 on the season, while Mission-Arlee fell to 0-3.

Ronan gets first win

The Chiefs poured water on the Red Devils for their first baseball victory in school history by a score of 12-0 on Monday, April 8. Liam Willis held Noxon to one hit over five innings while striking out seven.

Ronan got on the board first as Dante Baltz drew a walk to bring in a run, and Willis drove in a score. Baltz and Willis each drove in runs again in the bottom of the third to make it 4-0 after three.

The Chiefs clustered three hits in the bottom of the fourth and brought in five runs. Tristan Fisher drew a walk to bring in a run, while Cash Atkinson’s single drove in two more. Baltz singled again for an RBI and Curley singled for another score.

Curley drove in four runs in the contest, collecting three hits – including a double in the fifth that brought home Ronan’s final three runs. Baltz finished with two hits, and Fisher drew three of the team’s 12 walks.

Cash Atkinson and Fisher also had several steals. Noxon committed three errors in the matchup and only drew three walks.

Pirates dispatch Frenchtown 4-1

With rain wreaking havoc on Polson's schedule, the Pirates still managed to find a victory on Tuesday, April 2, with a 4-1 dispatching of Western Division foe Frenchtown. The win moved Polson to 6-1 on the year and 3-0 in league play.

Landon Shoemake went six innings for the Pirates, scattering five hits and striking out six, while Cole Wadsworth came in and picked up the save with a seventh-inning outing that saw him striking out one.

Polson jumped out to a 2-0 lead through three innings as the Pirates scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the first and Hunter Emerson drove in a run in the bottom of the third.

In the fourth inning, Polson scored on an error and then added its final run in the bottom of the sixth, also from a Frenchtown error.

Aiden Gfroerer had two of the Pirates' five hits and a double, while Cole Wadsworth also stole a base in the matchup.

Frenchtown had six hits but also committed five errors in the contest.

The weather also curtailed Mission’s Thursday double-header against Noxon/Thompson Falls, which was postponed because of rain.
