| April 11, 2024 12:00 AM

Dustin Blush will give a presentation on Computer Scam Awareness April 18. Call for more information. Open to all – younger people as well.

We have hired a new cook and thank Ms. D for filling the position for the last few months on a temporary basis.

This is National Volunteer Month. If you, or someone you know, has volunteered at the center in past years have them call us with their name, phone contact, and any information they have about their service. This would include former board members, drivers, helpers with commodities, activities leaders, instructors or any others who have shared their time and talents. Celebrations will be at lunch time during the fourth week of April.

Wednesday is Cribbage Day! Also Scrabble, mahjongg, bridge, dominoes, backgammon, and obscure board/dice games. Some game boards are available or bring your own board game and a friend. Fun starts at 12:30 p.m.

Tax assistance is available at the senior center through April 15, sponsored by AARP. Call for an appointment time.

Save on your auto insurance by taking the AARP Safe Driver Course, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. April 23; registration is $25 ($20 for AARP members). There’s no text and it includes a lunch break.

Senior bowling continues at 1 p.m. Tuesdays ($13 lane fee).

Activities at the Polson center, open to all, include: wood carving for beginners, 1 p.m. Wednesday and Friday; self-guided, video-assisted exercise, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, sitting or standing; bingo, 6:30 p.m. Fridays ($100 blackout), with playing card bingo on the first and third Wednesdays; pinochle, 12:30-3 p.m. Thursdays.

The pool table is open 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays. Inquire at the center about bridge.

A veteran’s representative will visit the center April 16 from 10 a.m.-noon.

Meals are available for sit-down, take-out or delivery from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. weekdays; a suggested donation of $5 helps support the nutrition program. The menu is posted each week at the center, although it’s subject to change. Call before 10 a.m. for grab-n-go.

Upcoming main dishes include: pork chops, April 11; corned-beef hash, April 12; sweet and sour meatballs, April 16; baked chicken, April 17; meatloaf, April 18; and sloppy Joes, April 19.

The center is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays at 504 Third Ave. E. For more information, call 406-883-4735, email polsonseniorcenter@gmail.com or visit us on Facebook.
