Arlee's Garden for Life offers dirt therapy

| April 18, 2024 12:00 AM

It's gardening season at the Arlee Community Development Corporation. The organization is looking for volunteers to work in the community’s Garden for Life from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesdays or 10 a.m.-noon Fridays.

Weekly 40-minute Zoom classes, held at 7 p.m. Mondays, will help build gardening skills, and volunteers also get to take fresh organic produce home to enjoy. To sign up, email foodsovereignty@arleecdc.org or call 406-726-5550 by May 6.

Last year’s garden yielded a harvest of more than 4,000 pounds of fresh produce, and gardeners are planning an even bigger harvest in 2024.

The Arlee CDC also offers Gardening 101 from 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 6. Instructor Patrick Mangan will discuss garden soils, what to plant and when, how to start seeds and transplant starter plants. Participants will plant seeds in take-home pots and refreshments will be served.

Email patrick.mangan@montana.edu or call 406-210-9843 to reserve a spot.
