Podium trips abound at Dave Tripp Memorial Invite
Several Lake County athletes won events at the Dave Tripp Memorial Track Meet, held in Polson on Saturday, April 13. Charlo’s Hayden Hollow was first in the 800 (2:05.92), while teammate Jacob Tomlin was first in the shot put (47-2) and javelin (149-03).
Mission’s Isaac Umphrey was third in the 400 (54.39) and fifth in the 100-meter run (11.78). Charlo’s 4x400 team also placed third (4:01.26) while Arlee was fourth (4:03.70).
Arlee’s Jake Knoll was fourth in the shot put (43-7), and Charlo’s Ryan Sharbono was second in the discus (128-01). Mission’s Rhain Gonzalez was fourth in the Javelin (139-03) and Arlee’s Bridger Smith was fifth (137-04).
Arlee’s Matthew Johnson was second in the high jump (5-10). Mission’s Gonzalez was third in the long jump (20-05) and Mission’s Harlon Leishman was third in the 3,200-meter run (11:19.44).
On the girls’ side, Charlo’s Aida Cote won the 800-meter run (2:37.22) and was third in the discus (100-01). Two Eagle’s Adalyn Jacobson was second in the 200-meter run (28.73) while Charlo’s Maddison Harris was third (28.85). Charlo’s Elsie Detert was third in the 3,200-meter run (15:11.80) and teammate Shonlea Matt was second in the shot put 30-10. Lady Viking Olivia Carnell was third in the shot put (29-10.5).
Arlee’s Adalyn Jacobson was third in the javelin (99-6.5).

Polson places five times at MCPS Invite
Polson junior Ashtin Brown placed twice, and the Polson girls had three placers at the MCPS Invite on Saturday, April 13, in Missoula. The Pirates were missing a good chunk of competitors due to the District Music Festival.
Brown placed fourth in the shot put with a mark of 49-10.50. He also placed fifth in the discus with a throw of 139-11.
On the girls’ side, Morgan Delaney was fourth in the 3,200-meter run (11:42.21) while Isabel Seeley was 13th (12:51.70). Delaney’s time was second among Class A athletes, just behind the first-place finisher.
Sophomore Kellyn Nelson was fifth in the pole vault for Polson with a mark of 10-00. It was the second-best mark in Class A.
Ronan looks powerful in Libby
Ronan had a busload of placers and first-place finishers at the Libby Invitational on Saturday, April 13.
The boys 4x100 relay team of Gabe Gagnon-Rusnac, Connor Durglo, Wade Qualtier and Trey Samsel finished first with a time of 45.79. Kolby Finley won the pole vault with a mark of 12-0. Finley was also second in the javelin with a heave of 146-3.
Connor Durglo took fifth in the 100-meter run (11.81), and third in the long jump (19-4) and in the triple jump (40-7.5).
Benjamin Running Rabbit placed seventh in the 400 (56.95) while Ronan had loads of success in the longer races. Tayen Edmo placed second in the 800-meter run (2:03.10) and third in the 1,600 (4:53.34). Devon Bigmedicine was sixth in the 800 (2:16.29) and third in the 3,200 (10:35.34).
In the 300-meter hurdles, Jhett McDonald was third (45.05) and Wade Qualtier was fourth (45.06)
Ronan placed fourth in the 4x400 relay with Wade Qualtier, Tayen Edmo, Trey Samsel and William Normandeau notching a time of 3:42.57.
In the field events, Masyn Wayman was fourth (38-8) and Steven Quequesah was fifth (38-4.75). Qualtier also placed fifth in the long jump 19-1.
On the girls’ side, freshman Zailee Hewankorn won the shot put (29-5.75), was fourth in the discus (88-4) and ninth in the javelin (80-11).
Sarah Templer was fifth in the 200 (30.79) and seventh in the 400 (1:10.76). Annie Adams was eighth in the 1,600-meter run (6:47.48) and Maddie Duffey arrived in ninth place (6:51.42)
Destiny Finley was third in the 300-meter hurdles (1:03.24) and freshman Aubrey Krell was fourth in the shot put (25-10.5). Lauryn Buhr placed seventh in the discus (79-6).
Charlo and Arlee fare well at Florence/Darby Invite
Charlo had several top three finishes at the Florence/Darby Invite on Tuesday, April 9, anchored by a solid performance by Hayden Hollow, while Arlee also had several top finishers.
Hayden Hollow finished third in the 400-meter run (55.38) and second in the 800-meter run (2:07.84.) In the longer races, Charlo teammate Hayden Smith was fourth in the 1,600 (4:56.98) and 3,200 (11:08.06).
Charlo’s Jacob Tomlin was fifth in the 100-meter hurdles (18.66).
Arlee had stand outs in the field events with Jake Knoll placing third in the shot put (44-04). Charlo’s Ryan Sharbono was second in the discus 134-10 and teammate Tomlin was third in the javelin 143-02.
In the high jump, Arlee’s Matthew Johnson was third (5-6).
On the girls’ side, Charlo’s Aida Cote was sixth in the 400 (1:07.52) and fourth in the discus (94-06). Charlo’s Leah Cahoon was fifth in the high jump (4-8).
