Polson bests three teams at Cut Bank Invitational

Polson Boys and Girls defeat Hardin

The Polson boys battled for a 4-3 victory over Hardin on Friday, April 12, at the two-day Cut Bank Invitational.

Torin Ellis won his No. 1 singles match up against Jameson Noteboom 8-7, while Polson's No. 1 doubles team Otto Lund and Tate Barentsen defeated Hardin's Derek Blankenship, William Notebook 8-6.

Brock Henriksen and Ruger Ellis won their No. 2 matchup 8-7, and Max Violett and Strider Gage won their No. 3 doubles battle 8-7.

The Polson girls picked up a 4-3 victory over Hardin, largely by virtue of their singles play. Summer Newman, Lauren COllinge and Hinkley Moss all won their battles. No. 1 doubles squad of Katie Smith and Julia Barnard defeated Trinity Lefthand and Avery Schubert 8-7.

Polson takes down Havre

Both the boys and girls defeated Havre in their Friday matchup at the Cut Bank Invitational. On the boys’ side, Torrin Ellis, Lachlan Sloan and Strider Gage each won their singles matchups. In No. 2 doubles action Tate Barentsen and Otto Lund defeated Havre's Reid Kato and Callen Stoner 8-1.

The girls won 6-1, as Summer Newman won her No. 1 singles matchup and Lauren Collinge won her No. 2 singles battle against Havre's Lindsey Leinwand 8-7. Greta Lund won the No. 3 singles matchup for the Lady Pirates as well.

In doubles action, Katie Smith and Julia Barnard were winners at No. 1, Josie Henriksen and Vivian Grainey were winners at No. 2 and Hinkley Moss and Baylee Lemm won their No. 3 matchup.

Polson sweeps East Helena

On Saturday, the Polson boys swept East Helena 7-0. Torrin Ellis, Branson Moss, Max Violett and Strider Gage won their matchups in single action.

For doubles, Brock Henriksen and Ruger Ellis, Otto Lunder and Tate Barentsen, and Noah Flaten and Lachlan Sloan were also victorious.

On the girls’ side, Katie Smith won the No. 1 singles matchup for Polson over East Helena's Taylor Hadley 8-3. Hinkley Moss won at No. 2 and Baylee Lemm swept all sets, 8-0. In No. 2 doubles action, Vivian Grainey and Josie Henriksen defeated East Helena's Bailey Bergyn and Morgan Schwyer, 8-5.

Other than a No. 2 doubles matchup victory on the boys’ side, and a No. 4 singles matchup on the girls side – Billings Central came away with a 6-1 victory in both boys’ and girls’ tennis.

Brock Henriksen and Ruger Ellis won their No. 2 doubles matchup 8-7 over Billings Central's David Ramshaw and Russell Johnson.

On the girls’ side, Greta Lund won the No. 4 singles matchup over Billings Central 8-4.

Polson defeats Columbia Falls

The Polson boys’ and girls’ tennis teams each defeated Columbia Falls in Northwest A Conference action on Thursday, April 11. The Polson girls were strong in singles play to defeat Columbia Falls 4-3, while the Polson boys swept their singles matches and two of the doubles matches for a convincing 6-1 victory at Columbia Falls.

On the girls’ side, Polson’s Lauren Collinge won her No. 2 singles matchup against Aliyah Arends 6-4, 6-2. Vivian Grainey and Hinkley Moss won their singles matches too.

In doubles action, Polson’s No. 1 doubles squad, Julia Bernard and Katie Smith, defeated Columbia Falls’ Lucie Love and Fiona Bryant 6-2, 6-4.

On the boys’ side, Polson was solid with Torrin Ellis winning his No. 1 singles matchup over Jax Ramage 6-1, 6-2. Brock Henriksen, Branson Moss and Strider Gage were also victors for the Pirates.

Polson’s No. 1 doubles team of Tate Brentsen and Otto Lund defeated Columbia Falls’ Logan Heupel and Will Pickard 3-6, 6-2, 10-6. In No. 3 doubles action, Noah Flaten and Lachlan Sloan of Polson won their matchup 6-4, 6-2.

Ronan falls to Whitefish and Bigfork

The Ronan boys picked up some matchups but still fell to Bigfork and Whitefish in Northwestern A Conference play on Thursday, April 11. Against Bigfork, Ronan proved to have the better singles tennis players, but Bigfork was able to win the No. 3 and No. 4 singles matchups while sweeping the doubles matches for the 5-2 victory.

Beau Decker defeated Bigfork’s Cole Carlson 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 1 singles matchup while Toby Carlton won his No. 2 singles matchup by downing Andrew Kingery 6-2, 5-7, 10-3.

Against Whitefish, the Bulldogs won every matchup except for the No. 1 singles bout, where Decker won his battle against Jack Oehlerich 6-2, 6-4.

Ronan girls fell to Whitefish 6-1 with doubles teams Sara McConnell and Amy Snyder and Chevy Reum and Addison Crawford each winning a game. The Maidens one matchup win was a forfeit.

Against Bigfork, Ronan girls lost 7-0 with Alice WolfBlack and doubles team McConnell and Snyder, along with Colette Onsager and Kamryn Brown winning some games but no sets.
