Get ready for “Clean Up, Green Up”
The Greater Polson Community Foundation is celebrating the 10th year of “Clean Up! Green Up!,” an annual campaign aimed at beautifying the community. For the past nine years community volunteers have taken time out of their busy schedules to pick up litter in Polson and surrounding roads and highways during the month of May. Individuals, businesses, organizations and groups with members of all ages have participated.
“It’s that time of year again and we hope to have old and new volunteers join their friends, neighbors and co-workers to help keep our area beautiful,” says Christine Pitts, chair of the GPCF Beautification Committee.
She invites community members to call her at 406-253-0754 “and let us know where you would like to clean up or for suggestions of areas in need. That way we can cover as many areas as possible.”
Volunteers should bring their own garbage bags and equipment or call Dave Newburn, a maintenance supervisor with the Montana Department of Transportation, at 406-833-0786 to request bags and reflective vests.
The Ronan City Council has scheduled a community-wide cleanup day for May 4.
Other community services during the month of May are Shred Day at Glacier Bank on May 17 and the Electronic Waste Day at the Transfer Station on May 18.
