Polson Seniors: Celebrating volunteers this week
This is National Volunteer Month. The center will celebrate its volunteers during lunch this week.
Western Pleasure Tours, centered in Kalispell, will present a video about budget-minded modern bus tours to various travel destinations in the West at 12:15 p.m. Friday, April 26, at the center. Call 208-283-9776 for info.
Two positions are available with the Nutrition Program, either full or part time: nutrition director with food service skills and/or another full-time head cook.
Wednesday is game day. Some game boards are available or bring your own board game and a friend. Fun starts at 12:30 p.m.
Activities at the Polson center, open to all, include: wood carving for beginners, 1 p.m. Wednesday and Friday; self-guided, video-assisted exercise, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, sitting or standing; bingo, 6:30 p.m. Fridays ($100 blackout), with playing card bingo on the first and third Wednesdays; pinochle, 12:30-3 p.m. Thursdays.
The pool table is open 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays. Inquire at the center about bridge.
A veteran’s representative visits the center on the first Friday and third Tuesday of each month. Memory Café, a dementia support group, meets from 1-3 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month for snacks and fun.
Meals are available for sit-down, take-out or delivery from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. weekdays; a suggested donation of $5 helps support the nutrition program. The menu is posted each week at the center, although it’s subject to change. Call before 10 a.m. for grab-n-go.
Upcoming main dishes include Polish dogs, April 25; Birthday Dinner for Lunch with roast turkey and all the trimmings, April 26; turkey rice soup, April 29; chicken pot pie, April 30; pork chow mein, May 1; burger patties with mushroom gravy, May 2; and blueberry strata and sausage links, May 3.
