Simple answer to Mr. Bell's question

| August 1, 2024 12:00 AM

Robert Bell asks a question with a simple answer in last week’s Leader: “How can Gale Decker be on the ballot?”

On June 5, 2024, Montana Commissioner of Political Practices Chris Gallus wrote in his conclusion to his investigation regarding the complaint lodged against me the following, “Mr. Decker did not violate MCA 13-35-207 and I cannot remove Mr. Decker’s name from the ballot. The complaint allegations have been considered as described above and this complaint is hereby dismissed in full.” Enough said.

A great thing about the United States is almost anyone can run for elected office and that is certainly an option open to Mr. Bell. My suggestion to him is that if he does not like the way election laws are currently administered, he should run for the legislature and take a swing at fixing them in a way that would satisfy him.
