The Annual Meeting of Polson Senior Citizens, Inc. will be held this Friday, at 11:30 a.m. We will have elections and present the annual report for approval. Lunch will be served after the meeting is adjourned.

I know that there seems to be a “day” celebrating something or someone. Well, the official “Senior Citizen’s Day” was Aug. 21. Celebrate it by being kind to one another every day.

Harvest season is upon us. If you have garden products to donate, bring them to the center for use or distribution. Thank you for your support of our nutrition program.

You can look forward to events for dues-paying members in August (Banana splits?). Dues are only $15.

The center is looking for a nutrition director, full or part-time, salary DOE. Office management and kitchen skills are a plus.

Activities at the Polson center, open to all, include: wood carving for beginners, 1 p.m. Wednesday and Friday, join any week; self-guided, video-assisted exercise, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, sitting or standing; bingo, 6:30 p.m. Fridays ($100 blackout), with playing card bingo on the first and third Wednesdays; pinochle, 12:30-3 p.m. Thursdays (walk-ins are welcome); Wednesday is game day – bring a game and a group of friends from 1-3 p.m. Inquire at the center about bridge.

The pool table is open 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays.

A veteran’s service officer visits the center on the first Friday and third Tuesday of each month.

Meals are available for sit-down, take-out or delivery from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. weekdays; a suggested donation of $5 helps support the nutrition program. The menu is posted each week at the center, although it’s subject to change. Call before 10 a.m. for grab-n-go.

Upcoming main dishes include: Polish dogs and mac ‘n cheese, Aug. 22; birthday turkey dinner, preceded by annual meeting and election of officers, Aug. 23; beef noodle soup, Aug. 26; pork chow mein, Aug. 27; Catalina taco salad, Aug. 28; stuffed peppers, Aug. 29’ and beanie-weenies, Aug. 30.

The center is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays at 504 Third Ave. E. For more information, call 406-883-4735, email polsonseniorcenter@gmail.com or visit us on Facebook.
