Is Decker above the law?

| August 29, 2024 12:00 AM

In response to Gale Decker’s letter (Leader, Aug. 1):

You stated this is a free country and if I didn’t like the laws I could run for office and change them to my liking. I like Montana Code Annotated 7-4-2014 (2): A person may not be elected as a member of a county commission unless the person has resided in the county and district for at least two years immediately preceding the general election.

You live in district 1, not in district 3. Therefore, you are not qualified to run for district 3, no matter how many people try to help you.

I’m just wondering if you put yourself above the law.

– Bob Bell, District 3
