Montana PBS program examines proposed voting amendments

| August 29, 2024 12:00 AM

The third season of “Montana PBS Reports: IMPACT” will premiere with a new episode Sept. 12.

The episode examines two proposed amendments to the Montana Constitution.

The first, Constitutional Initiative 126, would end the practice of each political party having its own primary ballot and create a system where all candidates appear on the same ballot, with the top four vote-getters advancing to the general election, regardless of party.

The second amendment examined in the episode, Constitutional Initiative 127, would make it so candidates would need a majority of votes to win an election, rather than a plurality as they do now.

The episode will also report on the upcoming election for two new Montana Supreme Court justices and the election for the clerk of the Supreme Court.

“Montana PBS Reports: IMPACT” is a news and public affairs program that provides in-depth reporting on issues important to Montanans. For more details, visit watch.montanapbs.org/show/montana-pbs-reports-impact/.
