Mission splits at Native American Classic

Mission came up just short against Poplar in a 42-40 loss at the 2024 Native American Classic Tip-Off at Great Falls on Saturday. In a tightly matched contest, the Lady Bulldogs outscored the Indians by three points in the fourth quarter, but their comeback came up just short.

Kieran Incashola led the team with 12 points, while Kason Page had 11. Cora Matt added 10 points and crested the 500-point mark for her varsity career.

The previous day, Mission had opened the season with a win by defeating Harlem 49-40 on Friday. Page and Incashola each scored 14 points while Mary Lamere added 11 points.

The tournament showing by the Lady Bulldogs put them at 1-1 on the season.

Scarlets pick up first win of season

The Arlee Scarlets finished up their appearance at the 13C Tip-Off Tournament in Hamilton on Dec. 6 and 7 after splitting a pair of games. On Saturday, Arlee fell to Noxon 36-22 as their offense cooled in the final three quarters.

Seanna Richter led the Lady Red Devils with 27 points. The Scarlets were led by Kaylee Tanner’s 10 points and Abby Yoder’s five points.

Arlee led 7-6 after a quarter, but Noxon took the 16-12 halftime lead and then outscored the Scarlets by seven points in the third quarter.

Arlee opened the tournament with a 29-28 victory over Valley Christian on Friday, outscoring the Lady Eagles 7-2 in the fourth quarter for the win. The Scarlets’ defense was the star of the game, holding Valley Christian to two points in the second quarter as well.

Valley Christian jumped out to a 15-3 lead in the first quarter, but Arlee roared back and only trailed 17-13 at halftime. After a tight third quarter, the Scarlets again clamped down on defense to win.

Leah Mesteth led Arlee with eight points while Kaylee Tanner had seven points.

Two Eagle drops two to start season

Two Eagle started the season with two losses in the 13C Tip-Off Tournament at Hamilton on Dec. 6-7. On Saturday, Lodge Grass surged in the second half for a 56-31 victory over the Lady Eagles.

Two Eagle trailed 27-20 at halftime, but Lodge Grass outscored the Lady Eagles by five points in the third and ended the game on a 15-2 run.

Keke Tenas led the Lady Eagles with 16 points, going 7-for-11 from the free-throw line while Jodessa Dickson had eight points.

Brockton defeated Two Eagle 67-24 to start the tip-off Tournament on Friday. Brockton jumped out to a 26-7 lead in the first quarter and had a 47-15 halftime lead.

Layla Tenas and Keke Tenas each had nine points while Jodessa Dickson had four.
