Ronan girls top Owen Invitational, Polson claims third

Ronan girls placed first at the Owen Invitational in Polson over the weekend, while Polson placed third in their home tournament and Mission-Charlo was sixth.

Ronan’s River Cote placed first at 110 pounds, recording pins in all her matches to start the year off 4-0. Saellah Nomee was also a champion at 115 pounds, scoring three falls while her teammate Amanda Webster was fourth at 120 pounds, picking up a pin over Columbia Falls Dalilah Hanson in less than a minute in the consolation semifinals.

Aliyah Steward was third for the Maidens at 125 pounds, coming back through the consolation bracket to go 5-1 on the weekend and pinning her opponent in the third-place match. Fellow Ronan wrestler Destiny Finley was second at 130 pounds, picking up three pins on her way to the championship match.

Sarah Templer was second at 135 pounds for Ronan, scoring three pins as well. At 140 pounds, Lola Schock was fourth, notching two pins. At 145 pounds Jasmin Hakes was fourth after pinning two as well, and Hadassah Read went 4-2 to placed fourth at 155 pounds.

At 170 pounds, Eyanah Burshia was fifth, as was Haley Kuhns at 190 pounds for Ronan. Haven Houle placed third by defeating teammate Judasha Ellsworth in the third-place match. Ellsworth finished fourth and had a pin on the weekend.

Seattle Adams placed second in the 285-pound bracket, picking up one fall on the weekend.

Polson places third

Polson’s Ciri Nice was first at 100 pounds, notching two falls including a 49-second pin over Browning’s Mykell Hoyt in the championship bout.

Her teammate Avari Stone was also first in the 105-pound bracket, recording two falls in under 20 seconds and defeating Frenchtown’s Persephone Cox in the championship bout with a pin.

At 120 pounds, Ariella Mihara was second after pinning three to get to the championship match. Teammate Shyloh Huffine was sixth, picking up one victory at 125 pounds and Cheyenne Blake was fourth at 125 pounds, winning four matches including three by pins.

Kyla Nielsen was also second for the Pirates at 125 pounds, notching three pins, including one in 22 seconds.

Venessa Wheeler won the 145-pound bracket with three falls, beating out Anna Cronk from Mission-Charlo in the championship bout. Abighail Sorrell won her bracket as well, scoring two pins, including a 40-second pin over Columbia Falls in the first-place match.

St. Ignatius-Charlo notches wins too

Meadow Ragen won the 155-pound bracket for Mission Charlo, going 4-0 on the weekend with pins in all matches, including a pin over her teammate Olivia Carnell, who placed second in the same bracket, pinning three people along the way.

Anna Cronk reached the championship bout for the 145-pound bracket for Mission-Charlo, going 3-1 on the weekend. Cronk had two pins and a major decision.

Mission-Charlo’s Lyla Wanberg placed sixth at 130 pounds, after notching two wins by fall.
