Ronan has two champs at Owen Invite

The wrestling season kicked off with Polson hosting the Owen Invitational on Dec. 7. Columbia Falls placed third and Ronan placed fifth.

Ronan’s Ridge Cote was first at 132 pounds, defeating Eureka’s Timothy Schmid 9-7. His teammate, Koda King, was first at 165 pounds, downing Columbia Falls athlete Dylan Delorme 11-5.

The Pirates’ Wyatt Moldenhaur placed fourth at 110 pounds, while Mission-Charlo’s Joseph Cronk scorched through the bracket and placed second at 118 pounds, with Ronan’s Justus Orman-Bergman claiming fifth.

At 144 pounds, Mission-Charlo’s Dakota Zeiler was fourth, while Ronan’s Baylon Hess was sixth at 150 pounds. Chief teammate Jairyn Krause was third at 157 pounds, as Krause pinned Lake City High School’s Tucker Bridwell in less than 30 seconds.

Ronan’s Dominique McKay was fifth, pinning Eureka’s Koale Medicine Bill in 2:32 in the fifth-place match.

The Chiefs’ Drew Holmlund finished in fifth place, after pinning Jacob Kurpius in the 215-pound fifth-place match.
